Join a hangout ​

Someone sent you a link, or invited you in the app. Here's what happens next.

Invite links look like https://planet4.us/#/invite?code=k7m2pq.

  1. Tap the link.
  2. First time on Planet4? You'll see the landing page. Tap Get started →, type the name your crew should see, and tap Let's go → (or use Continue with Google if you'd like your account to follow you across devices — it's optional).
  3. A brief Joining the chat… and you're in the group chat. The crew sees a small 👋 (your name) joined line.

There's no questionnaire on the way in. You can share which days work for you, your vibe and everything else from the widgets in the chat, whenever you like.

If you've used Planet4 on this device before, step 2 is skipped — the link takes you straight into the chat.

Copy it, open planet4.us, and paste it into the Paste an invite link or code box at the bottom of the home screen, then tap Join. The box accepts the whole link or just the code.

The code doesn't match a hangout. Usually one of:

  • A typo — codes are 6 characters and never use the letters i, l or o or the digits 0 and 1, so those are the usual suspects.
  • The organizer deleted the hangout, or it was cleaned up after going quiet.
  • The organizer removed you from this hangout. Removal is final, so the link won't work for you again.

With an in-app invite ​

If a friend invited you directly, a For you section appears at the top of your home screen: 💌 the hangout's title and (name) invited you. Tap Accept to jump straight into the chat, or ✕ to decline quietly — the host isn't told either way.

You'll also get a push notification about it if notifications are on for your device.

Already in the hangout? ​

Opening the link again just takes you to the chat. Nothing is duplicated.

Leaving a hangout ​

On the home screen, swipe the hangout's row to the left and tap Leave, then confirm. The hangout drops off your list and your votes are removed from its widgets. Nobody else's copy is affected, and you can rejoin later with the same invite link.

If you organize the hangout, the swipe action is Delete instead — organizers can't leave, only delete.
