Privacy

The short version: Planet4 shares what it has to for a group to plan together, keeps the rest to you, and asks before using anything personal. The full privacy policy is linked from the home screen; this page explains what it means in practice.

What your crew sees

Inside a hangout, everyone can see: your display name and avatar (your Google photo if you linked Google), your messages and reactions, your votes and answers on widgets, whether you've readied up, and — only if you turned it on — a rough area you're coming from. That's the point of a shared plan.

They do not see your profile settings (cuisines, interests, budget, travel time, home or work addresses), your account email, your friends list, or your Nova memory notes.

Your location

• Typing a Home in your profile shares nothing by itself.
• Show my area on group maps is the one switch. On, Planet4 rounds your home to roughly a 1 km square and labels it by neighborhood or city — and tells you exactly what it's sharing (✓ Sharing your area as "Williamsburg"). That's what the group map draws as a fuzzy circle, what helps pick the crew's venue search area, and what Nova is told. A street address never leaves your profile.
• Off, your area is excluded everywhere — including from Nova's reading of the chat and from the crew's search area — not just hidden on the map.
• Planet4 never asks for your phone's precise location.

What Nova is given

Nova receives the recent chat, the widget tallies, each member's availability and vibe choice, the cuisines and interests people set, the organizer's budget and setting, and the current plan. Home areas are included only for members who turned on area sharing, and only at neighborhood level. Memory notes are included only for members with the memory upgrade, and Nova can only write notes for those members. Square brackets typed in messages are stripped before Nova sees them, so nobody can fake a poll result in the chat.

Suggestions are generated by Anthropic's Claude; venue data comes from Google Places; email is sent via Resend; everything is stored in Google Firebase.

Nova memory

Notes are short preferences you stated about yourself. They're visible only to you, editable and deletable any time, never shared with other members, and never include sensitive topics or things others said about you. See Nova memory.

Sponsored cards

The occasional Sponsored · Planet4 Picks card in a chat is chosen on your device, never stored, and its links are plain search links. Planet4 uses no ad networks or third-party trackers, and doesn't sell data.

Operators

Planet4's operators can review conversations and Nova's output through an admin panel, to keep the assistant honest. The backend keeps a short-lived log of technical errors (30 days).

How long things are kept

A daily cleanup permanently deletes hangouts that have gone quiet, chat, votes and plan included. It measures inactivity, not the event date — any message, vote or plan update resets the clock, so a hangout people are still using is never removed.

Organizers can delete a hangout for everyone at any time; any member can leave one.

Your choices

• Use Planet4 anonymously — no email, no Google, ever, if you like.
• Edit or clear your profile at any time.
• Turn push notifications on or off per device; turn the email digest on or off.
• Leave or delete hangouts.
• View and delete Nova's memory notes.
• Delete your account: contact the team running Planet4 and they'll remove your account and everything tied to it.
